Happy Christmas design fans.
We're looking for a Business Development Manager.
Let's get one thing out of the way up front. Your job is about selling. There, I've said it. Horrible word. Selling.
That's your number one priority and we'll give you clear direction and sales targets. But we don't just want numbers. We don't want rubbish projects to make our figures look good. We want you to identify clients and projects that would fit well with our ethos and then facilitate those relationships.
We want you to understand, know and love design. We're going to ask you about this, so you'll need to know the difference between Peter Saville and Peter Sellers.
We want you to use your initiative and seek out opportunities rather than just following the crowd.
We want you to be energetic, tough, fun, lively and able to muck in. We want you to be organised, to love people and presenting. You will often be the first experience people have of The Design Conspiracy and so you'll need to embody all that the company stands for.
If we're being honest it's not all fun and glamour. We're a small company, we care about what we do immensely and we'll argue all night long about why something should be just so. We're very business focused and we have a very clear idea of what we want you to achieve and how we want to measure that.
In return we'll offer you a key role within a fast growing and exciting company. We're relaxed and flexible and you'll get to work with exciting brands such as 3 and adidas. We'll pay you a good salary (every month), we finish at 4pm on a Friday, you'll get a bonus on your birthday and you'll enjoy our Free Company Fruit Policy.

In case you were wondering about this, in the end we decided to pop round the corner and buy locally.
Hello.
We've haven't written anything on here for a while. That's not because this blog is closed, it's just because we haven't written on here for a bit.
One of the brilliant things about blogs is how easy they are for search engines to find. So if you've arrived via Google or MSN or Ask Jimmy a very special hello. THe categories on the right hand side are probably the best place to start. Have a browse through, there's loads of really interesting stuff on here.
"According to a recent Gallup survey 61% of the UK workforce are ‘not engaged’ and 19% of the UK workforce are ‘actively disengaged’ with their work."
A bit late notice this, but we'll be at the PR Week conference snappily titled, "Strategic Communications" on Thursday.
Some familiar faces will be there. Clare Lucraft who we've interviewed on this blog and Kate Nixon (from 3) who we work with.
Is anyone else going?
We've just discovered a great competition that our friends at Yakult are running. It's called the Healthy Workplace Awards.
Yakult discovered that '51% of people consider their workplace an unhealthy environment' and worse '42% of UK workers hold the workplace directly responsible for the majority of their illnesses.' Urrghh.
Yakult also say, 'many workplaces around the UK are recognising the importance of proactively contributing to employee health, with initiatives such as free fruit, gym membership, relaxation areas, office décor, yoga classes or social events.' Free fruit!! Oooh bonus points for us.
To reward companies who take their employees' well being seriously Yakult have launched the Healthy Workplace Awards.
They say, 'The Awards scheme is open to any organisation within the UK that believes it has a healthy attitude to employee health – and both employers and employees are eligible to nominate. The winning ‘Healthiest Workplace’ will be rewarded with a trip to Japan.'
Sounds good. Anyone fancy entering?
"Use design in internally facing functions (such as workplace interior and internal communications). This increases the chances of design contributing to employment growth by 1.8 times." More here.
This stat and loads of other brilliant facts are from a new website launched by the Design Council. It's called www.designfactfinder.co.uk and takes it's evidence comes from a National Survey of Firms 2005 and the Cox Report and DTI Competitiveness studies.
I'm an expert* in these stats, so if you'd like to know more or you'd like to test me give me a call on 020 7405 0875.
*Honest. Ben keeps testing me.
