Baubles at Browns

Tonight we shall be having a cocktail or two at Browns Hotel in Mayfair to celebrate the unveiling of the Paul Smith Christmas decorations. This year Sir Paul has been asked to decorate the hotel for Christmas and he's got his whole team involved.

Members of staff have all created their own baubles and they're going to be hung on the tree. In addition to these Mr Smith has invited a whole host of artists and designers to create their own too, on large discs that are to be hung on the wall framing the tree. These will then be part of a silent auction where the proceeds will go to Maggies Cancer Caring Centres. We were invited to contribute and couldn't conatin our excitement and got to work right away.

We didn't want to be too arty, just really festive and cool. That's when our adventure into glitterworld began. Red or silver? Or white? Hmmm, decisions. After a few experiments and 'ooooohs' and 'aaahhhs' we got a really successful result that we are really chuffed with. All achieved by our own fair hands. We hope other people like it enough to bid and raise money for Maggies.

We're not sure how long the bids are open for but anyone can go along to Browns and have a look and make bids. We'll post when we know a bit more.

Covered Up

Well, well, well as Duffy would say. That went well.

We had the private view for the Cover Version exhibition that we are hosting last week and it was a great success. The space seems to have gone down really well and everybody thought we'd done a great job, hoorah! Thank you to all that came, it was a really fun night and lovely to meet you all.

All the artwork looks great and very different from each other, although they're all limited to the same size format, it's that what makes it a really interesting show. Reading why the artists chose the LPs they've covered is as interesting as the work itself. Albums up for the makeover treatment include The Beatles White Album, Public Enemy's Fear of a Black Planet, The Jam's All Mod Cons and many others. Neil Young is a popular choice with both Harvest and On The Beach and the most recent of the lot is Elbow's Seldom Seen Kid.

Come down and see who do did what and why, the show is running until 17th December. Prints and some originals are available to buy too.
